Facebook to Launch New Audio Features
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought on an audio boom, in which Facebook and other major platforms have doubled down on audio features as the trend expands.
Facebook has prepared to build out its own audio products and features over the next 3-6 months. Users can expect to see audio soundbites, podcasts, and live audio in their feed in the coming months.
The launch of these new audio features would offer a new perspective to the up-and-coming medium in the digital space. The Facebook soundbites would be an audio version of Facebook’s current video product “Reels”, while the Podcasts would give users the opportunity to listen to their favorite creators on Facebook, and lastly, the live audio feature would be similar to Clubhouse where creators could stream their content live.
Zuckerberg said Facebook’s goal is to build a suite of audio products that will ultimately be as strong as its text, photo and video products. “At a high-level picture here, we think audio is also going to be a first-class medium,” he said
