Disney Plans to Rule Streaming
We are about three weeks out from the launch of Disney+, fans and the Disney stock are buzzing.
Disney recently announced a new partnership with Verizon giving customers free access to Disney+ for one year. They hope to hook users and will receive less money initially through a wholesale deal with Verizon.
Disney hopes this deal will jump-start its goal to reach 60-90 million subscribers by 2024. Competitors have also taken a liking to this strategy. Amazon and Comcast are offering users free subscriptions to their respective streaming services. Apple is offering new iPhone buyers a year of AppleTV+ and Netflix has a deal with T-Mobile.
Time will tell if Disney’s billion-dollar investments are worth it.
